How on earth do you do it: losing things in your Tiny House? I mean, in 20 square meters of living area, there are only so many places where you can put your things, right? But I managed to do it somehow. It was Friday the 23rd of December, I had invited a few friends over for drinks. House tidied, table folded out, (tiny) Christmas tree and candles…cosy!
I put on something nice too. I usually wear old jeans and my ‘signature’ black turtleneck at home, because I’m often muddling with the wood burner and getting my hands dirty. It’s fine if those old cloths get dirty so I wipe my hands on my pants whenever I want. But when I’m having guests, I always wear something nice. Skirt, legging, top… Now I won’t go as far as putting my high-heeled boots on too, so I was prancing around in my slippers. It was a very fun evening, we drank many a fine beer and at a certain point my friends left and I went to bed.
The next morning I cleaned up the place and later that day I wanted to wear my slippers…but couldn’t. They were nowhere to be found. I usually just leave them on the floor or put them in the staircase cupboard, so that’s where I checked first. Nope, no slippers there. Maybe I put them in the laundry bin? I couldn’t imagine but I checked anyway. Not there either. Did I take them off on the bed and left them there? No sir, not a trace of those infamous slippers. At that point I started smirking about it, how the hell do you lose things in a Tiny House! Apparently, my Facebook followers also found it hilarious, I rarely get that many comments.
I gave up. I was still a bit hungover from the night before, so I didn’t feel like searching anymore and I had no idea where else to look for them. I assumed they must have been taken by the slipper fairy.
The next day I thought of another spot I hadn’t checked yet: in the sitting corner where my folding table is put away. I pulled the two loose parts together, got out the table and ta dah! There they were! Stuffed in the back. I can’t believe I didn’t notice that or thought of it before. Kind of dusty in there too, maybe I should use the dust buster more often in there ;)
So it goes to show, even in little houses with little stuff you can lose things sometimes! :)
