In November 2016, Monique van Orden and I gave our very first workshop “Realize your own Tiny House”. We had rented a room in Utrecht in which we worked with twenty students for a day. After having given fifteen workshops across the country to about 300 students, we decided to turn it into an online course: “Your Tiny House – from dream to reality”. Since its launch in April 2018, more than 300 students have registered and many of them have completed the course. But now we are curious: which of them actually live Tiny?
One of the first workshops we gave was in Zwolle. Still nice and old fashioned — in a classroom :)
That would be fun to know, wouldn’t it? The reactions to our e-course are unanimously positive (on average we get a 9!). Recently I received another sweet message from happy students:
Hi Marjolein!
Just a good news email! We were told yesterday that we can build our little house on our dream place! Legal and all, we comply with the building decree.
We are really happy!

Great huh? This is exactly why we do what we do!
But we finally wanted to know how many students now live in a Tiny House and how many are building one. So, in March we sent an email to all our (former) students asking if they would like to let us know via a short questionnaire. As expected, not everyone responded; you know how that goes;) But still about 65 people have answered the little questionnaire. This was the result:

| 1 | my Tiny House is finished but I don’t live in it yet |
| 15 | my Tiny House is being built or I am building it now |
In addition, we knew from 9 former students who did not complete the questionnaire that they live in a Tiny House, so that makes it a total of 24 people that we know for sure. But we bet there are more, and we would love to hear from you! So dear students of the workshop and the online course, if you live in your Tiny House now, let us know! We would love to receive a photo of you in front of or in your Tiny House. You can send it to info@marjoleininhetklein.com; thank you very much.
In addition to the online classes, there are course meetings four times a year, with inspiring speakers and other fun activities.
We also received very nice and sometimes heartwarming reactions from the ex-students living in a Tiny House. I would like to share a few with you:
I really benefited from your course. Especially the question: “What is most important to you?”
I keep dreaming and making plans for my Tiny House, but first the kids have to become independent. I’m not in a hurry.
My TH became ready when I had only just started the course. So, I did not finish the course, because I am already very busy. It is a relief to live in your own TH.

That makes Monique and I so happy! We also often get back that it is quite a challenge to find a place where you can live in your Tiny House. We know that and on behalf of you all we are committed to the Tiny House Netherlands foundation to make that easier. It’s a long way, but a lot is happening in the country to create residential locations. Therefore, take heart! And if this is your dream, go for it. It certainly takes effort, but it is also worth it. <3
